Budget and Accommodation
The budget estimated for hosting the Commonwealth Games exceeds one billion pounds and this does not include the development of non-sports related infrastructure like airports and roads. This makes the Delhi edition of Commonwealth Games as the most costly in history. One of the major portions of that fund has been utilised to construct the Commonwealth Games Village. This is a residential project that is being build next to the famous Akshardham Temple. The project includes more than 30 apartment buildings with nearly 1200 flats. These apartments are meant to accommodate athletes and officials related to the games. The project hired some of the best architects and interior designers. As a result, the village boats of a world class security system and solar powered lighting, as well as top of the line bathroom fittings. The project also includes a state-of-the art two level basement car parking. Additionally, the Games Village has a number of shopping and recreational facilities. The flats will be sold to general public after the games. In fact, most of the apartments have been already booked.
Transport
The Indira Gandhi International Airport has been modernised and expanded to match world class standards. The airport’s newly constructed and one of the biggest Terminal 3 in the world has improved the airport’s passenger capacity to nearly 40 million commuters a year. The city has expanded road infrastructure and that includes building up of new flyovers and bridges. This has been done to improve the general flow of traffic during the Commonwealth Games. There also have been talks of making certain busy roads signal-free during the games. Moreover, The Delhi Metro is increasing its operations to accommodate more people and enhance the usage of public transportation during the CWG 2010.
Sports
More than 70 nations will take part in a number of sports events, such as aquatics, archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, rugby, shooting, squash, table tennis, tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.

India will also organise free transport for the athletes and officials to the famous Taj Mahal. Furthermore, the government plans to reserve a lane for participants on some selected roads.
